Sona Ashjian, our Office Administrator and Assistant Treasurer since 2013, was born in Syria and raised in Lebanon. She moved to the United States with her family in 1970, settling in Watertown, MA. She’s been an active member of the Armenian Memorial Church (AMC) since 1970 and has served the Church in many capacities such as Sunday school teacher, member of the Board of Deacons, Ladies’ Aide, et al. Sona considers it a privilege to serve the AMC in any capacity.

Sona studied Psychology at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Her professional background is in the Pharmaceutical Industry as a Senior Clinical Data Manager.

​

Fluent in Armenian and English, she is an active member of the community. A founding member of the Sayat Nova Dance Company of Boston, she serves on its Executive Board as a member of its Public Relations Committee and Production Crew.

June Baboian our Music Director was born and raised in Watertown, MA and has been faithfully serving Armenian Memorial Church as music director since 1997. She loves having the opportunity to combine her passion for the Lord and her passion for music and the arts in her music ministry.

 

She directs the choir, the handbell choir, plays flute and sings solos, duets. etc. In addition to directing music for Sunday services, she has coordinated the church’s centennial organ concert, a series of summer jazz services, and she accompanies the pastor on monthly visits to the Armenian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

 

With a Bachelor of Music from The Boston Conservatory, June is a versatile singer and actor whose work encompasses theater, television and film. A member of Actors’ Equity Association, June has appeared at many New England theaters. She has appeared in numerous TV commercials and has recently appeared in costarring roles in two AMC channel TV series.
